Battery Park City Apartments
Battery Park Apartments
Battery Park City apartments are a planned community just northwest of Battery Park. West Street separates the Financial District from Battery Park City, which is surrounded on three sides by the Hudson River. The neighborhood is divided into five sections. The northernmost section, or the North Residential Neighborhood, features high-rise residential buildings, a hotel, a high school and a mall. South of that is the World Financial Center, occupied by Merrill Lynch, American Express and other large financial corporations. South of the World Financial Center are three more residential areas: Gateway Plaza, a high-rise, and Rector Place and Battery Place, both consisting of low-rise buildings.
About 10,000 people currently live in Battery Park City, and most of them are either upper class or upper middle class. The area is popular for families with small children as there are several parks and greenways nearby. Individuals who work on Wall Street or in downtown Manhattan enjoy the short commute time and variety of public transportation options available. Although the neighborhood is a bit isolated, multiple groceries, restaurants and local businesses are found there.
Residents of Battery Park City should never be at a loss for things to do. Its proximity to Battery Park City and the Esplanade along the Hudson River provide children and adults with running paths, ball fields and a variety of activities. Regal Cinemas at Battery Park offer stadium seating and up to 11 movies playing at one time. During the warmer months, Governor’s Island, accessible by a short ferry ride, offers numerous events for people of all ages. Finally, for those who enjoy history and unbelievable views, many apartments in the area face the water, specifically the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
